  • Is Dunedin Easter Camp a Christian Event?
Sure is! But we welcome people from any walk of life to the event. You don’t have to be part of a church or youth group at all (but you do need to come with one) you’ll have a mint time whatever you believe, where-ever you come from! EC is a combined Christian Youth Group event. Churches from all denominations attend from all over the wider Dunedin // Otago region.
  • When is Dunedin Easter Camp?
    Friday 18th April - Monday 21st April 2025.
  • Where is Dunedin Easter Camp?
    Tirohanga Camp, Mosgiel.
  • How old do I have to be?
Between year 9 and year 13.
  • How much does camp cost?
$180 per person from 3rd February to 27th March. $195 per person from 28th March to 11th April Your camp fee includes all meals and activities. Registrations close Friday 22nd March.
  • Why is camp more expensive than last year?
Due to the nature of most things increasing in cost across the board, we’ve had to increase our cost slightly to make camp more financially viable to run. We appreciate that this may cause some issues for some, and we encourage you to touch base with your church and/or youth group leader to have a chat about options if this is you. If we could run this camp for free, we totally would!
  • Can I get a refund?
Refunds are available if you need to withdraw for any reason up until March 22nd. After this date until camp starts, there is a non refundable fee of $100, and you will be refunded the difference. Once camp has begun, there will be no refunds.
  • Drop off and Pick Up?
Talk to your youth leader to see what your youth group is doing in terms of transport to camp. But parents are welcome to drop off their children anytime from 4pm on Friday 18th April and pick up their children at 12:30pm on Monday 21st April. If you are coming late or leaving early, you must let your youth leader know prior to camp.
  • Do I bring pocket money?
Naaah. Leave it at home. Safe and sound. All your meals and activities are included in your registration fee.
  • Will there be first aid staff at camp?
We put a lot of thought, energy and resources into making sure Easter Camp is as safe as possible. However, sometimes accidents and illness do occur. Fear not! A team of first-aid trained volunteers are on site and are available 24 hours a day throughout camp.
  • I am a camper who needs some extra help and need to bring a carer to camp with me. How can I arrange that?
It is fine for a person with special needs to bring a carer with them. While parts of Eastercamp do not suit the needs of everyone, we will make an effort to ensure that anyone can attend and feel part of the place! Both the camper and the carer need to register and pay the full camp fees. Please state any special needs clearly on your registration form so we can assist you as best we can. Talk to your group's Key Leader too! They will be able to help you out with any queries, and will ultimately be responsible for your young person while they’re at camp.
  • I can't afford camp. Can I still come?
No one should miss out on camp because they can’t afford it. Talk to your youth leader about sponsorship options. They may have some church sponsorship available.
  • What if the weather is bad?
Camp goes ahead rain, hail or shine. The facilities at camp are suitable in all weather conditions. However, we still recommend young people come to camp prepared for all types of weather and temperatures. The planning team is working hard to make sure that camp is great, no matter what the weather looks like.
  • What do I bring to camp?
  • What don't I bring to camp?
Use your common sense on this people; bringing valuable items is just silly… bringing drugs, alcohol, smokes, vapes or anything else questionable is silly too.
  • Is there car parking available?
We have car parking available onsite. If your youth group isn't organising anything, then make sure you carpool with your friends! No cars are allowed onsite during the event without a car pass.
  • When can I collect my young person from camp?
Camp finishes at 12:30 pm, Monday 21st April. Instructions for pack up will be given and all campers can expect to be involved for a short time. Adults picking up campers can arrive from 12:30 pm. Please do not come early. Please be prepared to wait if your young people are not free to leave at that time. Please be patient if there are traffic holdups, and remember that campers and volunteer staff are all likely to be tired. You may have had the weekend off – we haven't! Your cheerful cooperation with us will be greatly appreciated. Some youth groups are carpooling back to their churches. You should talk to the Youth Leader of the youth group your child is going with to arrange pick-up times from their church.
  • Do I need to bring a tent?
Yes, you do.. So make sure you organise yourself a space in a tent, whether it's your own, or your grans, or a friend!
  • Will I have power at my tent site?
No. We will have a charging station available for those who need some extra juice - but camp is so cool, so you probably won’t need it ;)
  • Do I bring food for my group?
No. Dunedin Easter Camp feeds you from Saturday Morning to Monday Lunch. However - feel free to bring your own snacks. It is your own responsiblity to make sure you are fed on Friday night.
  • How many leaders do I need to bring?
The leader-to-camper ratio is 1:8 at all times. No exceptions.
  • What are camp parents? Do we need them?
Camp parents can come to camp as an extra set of hands and eyes to help your group have a great time at camp. Ideally, they will be a mature couple with great relational and pastoral care skills who are great with young people.
  • Do I need a plate? Cutlery?
YES YOU DO :) Bring your own set of things to eat on and drink from.
  • Will there be toilets at camp?
Yes. You won't be sitting in style, but you'll have somewhere to relieve yourself and wash your hands!
  • Should I bring a marquee for my youth group?
We encourage youth groups to bring their own marquees to put up for their crew in tent city if they would like. Can't have too many marquees!
  • Can I bring fairy lights and decorations?
Yes. Bearing in mind you won't have power at your campsite, so make sure any lights you bring are either solar or battery-powered.
  • COVID-19 & SICK PEOPLE
We will do all we can to keep campers safe and well while at camp. In the case of a camper testing positive for COVID at camp, or falling ill in any other capacity, we will assess the situation and communicate our decisions with campers and parents as things unfold. If anyone begins to feel unwell, we will have cabins assigned for campers to isolate in if they need to.
